11/11)Houston,Texas:Verizon Wireless
It’s always great to get back to Texas. The people there are great, and they always welcome us with open arms. Houston was a great place to kick off the final leg of this tour. (I can’t believe it’s almost over… )Unfortunately, I was just getting over some sick ass Flu that I’m sure at least three other people on the bus will have caught by the time you read this., other than that, things looked like a pretty normal day. I realized that we had played here before with none other than Slayer about a year and a half ago or so. I went in the venue and did my thing (Brush my teeth, etc… ),and came back out to the bus were I was greeted by the news that Jamey had missed his flight into Houston from Las Vegas, where he was filming some stuff for Head Bangers Ball!
The only other flight he could get put him in town to late to play (Or so it seemed) so we were bummed at the possibility of having to cancel the show. Fortunately, We worked it out so that our friends in Arch Enemy got a little more time added to there set, AND they were nice enough to let us use there drum kit to save time! (Thank you Daniel!) They left all there stuff up there so we could just run on stage as soon as Jamey got there… And that’s just what we did! As soon as he came running through the back doors I started feeding back, and the lights went down, and We were on! (Phew!!!) And because of every ones help and cooperation, we got to play a good 25 minute set! AMAZING!!! Thanks to our entire road crew, and Slayer and there road crew, and Arch Enemy and Crew, and of course, the people of Houston Texas for being patient, and for representing to the fullest for us!
11/12)Grand Prairie, Texas: Next Stage
Let me start by saying that when I walked into this place I was blown away at the size of the stage! It was huge! It even made Slayer’s back line look small, and they’ve got like, 16 Cabinets each!
The venue was a really nice place and the people that worked there were great to, so it was nice to find out that there is a place around the general Dallas area that will be able to follow up the Ranch Bowl (R.I.P.) Everything was great about the show, the people went absolutely ape-shit! And we had a great time playing for all you guys! Thank you!
After the show, some of the guys went and hung out back stage. I guess there was a little party going on, and Dime had been hanging out cause we were in his area, and him and Kerry are good friends I guess. I just hung out on the bus for a while and went to bed…
11/13)San Antonio, Texas: Sunset station
San Antonio rules!!! This is the 4th time that we’ve played Sunset Station, and I can honestly say it’s sick as fuck every time! San Antonio goes off!!! You guys out there never cease to amaze us! The show was awesome, and I speak for all of us in the band when I say we had the time of our lives getting to play for you guys again!
I watched Slayer’s entire set from Jeff’s side of the stage, sitting on some stairs off by where they were keeping the equipment and stuff. I love Slayer, they’re my all time favorite band, and getting to watch them like that is… To quote the Rev. Steve Austin… Mind fuckin blowin I also think I saw Nick from Queens of the stone-age walking around checking out Slayer’s set as well… Hmmm, Interesting.
11/14)Austin, Texas: Austin Music Hall
One of the most legendary cities when it comes to American music, Austin is one of those places that always leaves me in awe. No matter what, I always walk down 6th street end to end and take it all in. I’m a huge fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn, and this place was pretty much his old stomping grounds, so I make an effort to check out Austin a little more than the average place.
As for the show… What can I say? Austin is a great place over all, whether we’re here with Slayer, or headlining a show at Emo’s, You guys come out and destroy for us every time, and we appreciate it 100%! We look forward to getting back there to play for you guys, as well as the rest of the great State of Texas, ASAP!
Well, that’s all for now, but I ll be checking in soon with some more tales of high adventure! Until then, Take care, Sean Martin…
