I had the chance of a lifetime in Dallas to see one of my favorite guitar players play in front of over 45,000 people! Vince Gill got the chance to show many new fans just how talented he really is. Vince played for a half an hour & touched on many diffent sounds. Oklahoma Borderline showcased his talents as his fingers flew up & down the fretboard. The highlight of the weekend for me as I stood on the side of the stage watching Vince was when Eric Clapton stood next to me during Vince’s last song! As Vince finished his set I turned to Eric & thanked him for putting on such a cool concert. He then shook my hand & thanked me for coming out! Eric then went over to tell Vince how much he enjoyed his set. Other highlights were seeing Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Johnny Lang, Joe Walsh & many others play live & talking to Larry Carlton for half an hour. A weekend I ll NEVER forget! – said ROCKINREGGIE on Nov 11, 2004
The Crossroads Guitar Festival was a wonderful experience. We arrived in Dallas on Saturday afternoon as Jonny Lang was playing. We loved seeing [b:2167fa11c8]all[/b:2167fa11c8] the artists there; the bluesmen were great! But Clapton is still my favorite artist of those who were there. I don’t think there are many people who could have gotten that talent together. There were many great moments that stick out in my memory. One was on Saturday evening when Clapton joined J.J. Cale on his set and they played Cocaine. Another was during the Blues Jam on Saturday night when Buddy Guy was pushing Clapton during a solo on Sweet Home Chicago. On Sunday, there were too many to list, but a real high spot was when Jeff Beck joined Clapton for only one song and left us wanting more. It was a great time, and I’m looking forward to re-living it by watching the DVD. – said Scootron on Nov 11, 2004
My favorite artist on the DVD is ZZ Top. I first got into them when I was 9 years old when the Eliminator album came out. Got Me Under Pressure Legs Gimme All Your Lovin and Sharp Dressed Man became classics. I didn’t get into the old ZZ Top until much later. La Grange and Tush are personal faves, along with Cheap Sunglasses and Tube Snake Boogie . – said notoriusbug on Nov 11, 2004
I lived in Dallas for 14 years & in that time we never had anything like this festival. I move, and sure enough, they have the Crossroads Festival, and I couldn’t go. Alas. But I did see Eric Clapton on the 4th of July this summer, and that was pretty groovy. His music really comes alive when you hear him live. I really liked the jammin intro to I Shot the Sheriff. But to think I could’ve had a ZZ Top dance party in Dallas… sigh. – said ktboston on Nov 11, 2004
My favorite artist has to be Eric Clapton. Not only he is a master of the guitar, with his music coming from deep within his sole, but has also endured an intense life of trauma and suffering yet has turned this all around to help so many people improve their life. The true heros are the ones that don’t forget the less fortunate when they become more fortunate. – said appleboy on Nov 11, 2004

I’ve never seen so many awsome guitars on display in one place. All of the music was incredible, but if I had to choose a fav it would have to be Clapton. My favorite moment was when he, B.B.King, Jimmy Vaughn, Buddy Guy, and John Mayer were all on stage jamming together. It was like they were just sitting in their den at home having a good time. Amazing! – said kathie on Nov 11, 2004
I also attended the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas. I live in Dallas, so it was easy for me to go. I only attende Sunday June 6, but it was an unforgetabble experience. My favorites at the Cotton Bowl were Neal Schon, Steve Vai, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, Bo DIddley, Joe Walsh, VInce Gill, BB King, BUddy Guy, John Mayer, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, ZZ Top, & of course Clapton himself. I also thought that the Guitar Center Village Exhibits were very cool. I really enjoyed seeing Blackie. I am very excited about the DVD. – said clapton6 on Nov 11, 2004
I grew up listening to James Taylor because he is my mom’s favorite artist. I still listen to the his soothing sounds today. When I think of his music I think of long car rides when I was young. Eric Clapton is my dad’s favorite artist and I got the pleasure to see him this year on tour with Robert Randolph. There’s nothing like sharing a musical experience with your parents. Both of these artists bring back old memories but also new memories as each keeps releasing great albums. I lived in Chicago for four years and saw Buddy Guy at least once a year there. Each time I left the venue in amazement of his talent. – said britpopguru on Nov 11, 2004
Unfortunately, I missed the dream festival of all time. So thank God for the DVD! First saw BB with a revival-like feeling, full grown women rushing him on stage and others fainting (one big legged woman fainted on me and almost broke my back and I was the only white in the house). Then BB with Eric Johnson playing only blues (first time saw Eric Johnson he was being physically pushed by Steve Morse into the spotlight..so shy and way before the G3 with Vai & Satriani) Then BB with Jeff Beck (saw Jeff open for Billy Joel and later with Carlos Santana with Ginger Baker sitting in on drums). Watched Buddy Guy wail as he walked around the club and then out the door and stopped traffic as he jammed outside. Power went out at Larry Carlton so for half hour he told stories of Steely Dan and near death from shooting. When power came back on he wanted to play rock requests from the audience. Too many stories so to see them all at one event would be heaven on earth. But as appleboy said it so well EC has always been the man for me and thanks to ZROCK I was able to see him this summer and it was the best I’d ever seen him play. – said prizm52 on Nov 11, 2004

Jarrod, My favorite Crossroads DVD artist is Eric Johnson. Even though I have only had the opportunity to see Eric perform one time, I have been a fan of his for a number of years and have spoken with him on a couple of occasions. His mastery of the guitar and tones are nothing short of phenominal. I was speaking with Eric after one of his shows here in Dallas about how I have worked with Randy Jackson of ZEBRA (another one of my favorite guitarists), booking solo acoustic shows throughout the Midwest. Eric indicated that he was planning to do a solo acoustic CD and perform several shows. I have yet to catch one of those acoustic shows, where Eric plays both guitar and piano, but I have heard some incredible reviews. Looking forward to attending one of his performances soon. Lots of great performers on this DVD. All the great blues artists like Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan; great guitarists Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, John McLaughlin, Larry Carlton, etc.. But one of my favorites is ZZ Top because of their bluesy rock. Sounds like a great DVD. – said GodzRule on Nov 11, 2004
Jarrod, Any updates on this? Thanks, Don – said Don Wishon on Nov 11, 2004
Personally, I love Santana. Maybe it’s because I’m Mexican… but he is deffinitely my favorite. He adds a bit of Latin Rock to his songs and the solos don’t hurt the ears. It takes a lot of fast finger work but that’s what separates good musicians: is their ability to use both sides of their brain. I love it all and It would be extremely difficult to pick a favorite. ZZ Top are also very talented and the fact that most of that is mostly ad lib… .the way they show off not just picking but more. The subject of their music is usually the same but the way they twist it and extend it is incredible and it never gets boring. Truly Fascinating! – said missliz on Dec 12, 2004
Thanks so much for the DVD, T-shirt, and Crossroads program!! They arrived day before yesterday in time for Christmas! Have a wonderful Christmas and a terrific 2005. Alice Crumpler – said Scootron on Dec 12, 2004
