Winger performs in Phoenix March 6
The founding members of Winger, Kip Winger (bass/vocals), Reb Beach (guitar), Rod Morgenstein (drums), have reunited for their first U.S. tour in over a decade, including a stop in Phoenix at Martini Ranch on March 6, 2007. The band also includes John Roth (guitars/vocals), a Winger member since 1993’s Pull album and new comer Cenk Eroglu (keyboards/vocals).
Originating in 1987, Winger has produced such hits as Madalaine, Seventeen, and Headed For A Heartbreak. In 1990 the band was nominated for an American Music Award for Best New Heavy Metal Band. In 2001 they returned to the studio to record the song On the Insidefor The Very Best of Winger.
On October 20, 2006, Winger released Winger IV; their first album in over a decade. The new Winger album, explains Kip, ’starts where Pull left off and moves into new directions. It mixes some classic Hard Rock like Van Halen and early Winger style, progressive and acoustic elements that may resemble Genesis, Mott the Hoople or King Crimson. The album examines what it must be like over in Iraq and the realities of war. Winger’s lyrics were motivated from his performances at Military bases and wanting to capture the lyrics from the perspective of the soldier.
