Hi. My first ’real concert was the Pyromania show back in 83, I guess. Uriah Heep opened for da Leps. Joe Elliott freaked out on the security guards upfront. I don’t know what happened but he was VERY upset. Still, I was 14 and only 5 rows from dudes I saw on MTV almost every hour! And the t-shirts were only 12 bucks back then. Does life get any better? – said DavidJ on Jun 06, 2005
my def lep experience is a killer.. i was DJ at zrock in dallas texas. the local affiliate 99-1 had a contest to win a date with me, rob dog, ward cleaver, some stripper and a male stripper. well we met all our dates for the show. mine was so nervous she began to drink and drink and drink..she was so drunk i ended up carrying her down to the bottom of reunion arena def lep was on stage. security saw us and ushered us to the front. the dallas police saw that i was carrying this chick and quickly ushered me and her to the stairs leading out of the arena. needless to say i had to carry her back up and out. i then carried her around the building looking for the limo. our driver took off. so i had to wait with this now passed out girl in front of the arena all night people walking by were snickering as they said hi sharkmann needless to say we missed the show. i left my girl friend at home. in retrospect i should have taken her and dropped the drunk at first aid. – said sharkmann on Jun 06, 2005
Now we’re really talkin!!! Been a Lep fan since the first album, [u:84d45a3c2b][b:84d45a3c2b]On Through The Night[/b:84d45a3c2b][/u:84d45a3c2b], which I think still stands up a great rockin album. Sonically, it has some very similar tonal qualities with early Maiden. This album really smokes and is a bit more progressive and riff laden than the later day Lep tunes. Then came [u:84d45a3c2b][b:84d45a3c2b]High and Dry[/b:84d45a3c2b][/u:84d45a3c2b] which picks up where On through the night left off… .Amazing album… .[u:84d45a3c2b][b:84d45a3c2b]Mirror Mirror[/b:84d45a3c2b][/u:84d45a3c2b] is my favorite on that album and it was not a big single but it has some Zepish riffs in there and it’s really rockin [u:84d45a3c2b][b:84d45a3c2b]Pyromania[/b:84d45a3c2b][/u:84d45a3c2b] by a huge margin exceeded and continues to exceed my expectations of what a rock album can be. It ranks in my Top 5 albums of all time and is in regular rotation. I’ve bought this album on vinyl, cassette, CD and downloaded it legally through Dell’s musicmatch for my Dell DJ (in that order… my last CD was stolen) I’ve seen Leppard in concert many times… Pyromania tour was amazing and they absolutely blew Billy Squier out of the water. Squier was at the top of his game but Def Leppard was the wave of the future and it really showed. Hysteria was stunning and extremely memorable and very special now considering the loss of Steve Clark who, in my opinion, belongs in the ranks of Page and Hendrix. He was a master riff writer and could play the Les Paul slung real low like the best of em. I just can’t say enough good things about this band… .I hope they swing through Seattle on this tour.[/u][/b] – said J-Blue on Jun 06, 2005
Sharkmann, your story sucks!!! I would have been soo pissed if that would’ve happened to me. Sorry. Def Leppard is one of my favorite bands to have come out of the 80s. One of my first rock albums I bought was Pyromania. There are soo many great DL songs it’s hard to pick just one. Some of my favorites are Rock of Ages and Pour Some Sugar on Me. I have yet to see them in concert but sure hope they make a stop in Houston on this tour. 😆 – said miss crue on Jun 06, 2005
My first Lep concert was at Jones Beach. Amazing performance that really deserved the double encore. Favourite song has to be Bringin on the Heartbreak . – said appleboy on Jun 06, 2005
My best Def Leppard memories come from the Adrenalized tour. I was able to see 7 shows on that tour and it was awesome!! The guys were great, the stage production and lighting were fantastic. I hope they tour like that again some day! – said GirlFriday on Jun 06, 2005
One of my favorite memories of the song Pour Some Sugar On Me is when i was in 8th grade. I was at a school dance and this song came on. Right in the middle of a dance move, i went down and my pants split all the way from the top to the middle of my thigh exposing my whole butt cheek. This happens to about every girl at a school dance and mine was during Pour Some Sugar On Me. I was so proud it was during my favorite bands song! 😉 – said rnrjunkie15 on Jun 06, 2005
That’s hilarious. Just be glad it wasn’t during Waterloo (sorry, all you ABBA fans) or some other crappy tune that you’d remember for the rest of your life. [/b] – said DavidJ on Jun 06, 2005
My favorite song by Def Leppard is Bringing On the Heartbreak . I have not seen them live not once. I almost went to the Rodeo to see them, but my plans had to be changed at the last minute. I hope to see them live in the near future!! – said wildchild on Jun 06, 2005
my first one was pyromania. bought it when it first hit the shelves. i was 11 at the time, and i thought it was the greatest album ever. in many ways, it still is. – said jadedheart85 on Jun 06, 2005
September 27, 1983, 8:30 p.m., Tucson Convention Center, Tucson, Arizona… Shout At The Devil , Metal Health and Pyromania were burning up the charts and the airwaves. Three of the defining records of the 80’s hard rock genre, and I had the opportunity to see all three bands live within a seven month period in the Fall-Winter-Spring of 83- 84. The first show was Def Leppard with Uriah Heep. I was 15 and had the entire Pyromania album lyrics memorized as the tracks Photograph , Foolin , Rock of Ages and Rock, Rock (Til You Drop) were a staple on the local FM station, 96 Rock KLPX. In fact I was so taken with Rock of Ages I had marked on the cassette tape the exact posistion on the little window where the song began, so as I was rewinding or fast-forwarding I could stop it right at the point where Mutt murmurs the Oontil, Gleebal, Glabin Nobbin (or whatever he says). The concert was unbelivable. I had not been to a rock show since I had gone with my mother and a bunch of neighborhood kids to see KISS on the Dynasty tour in 79. I was sitting (standing) in the first row of the loge (lower deck) stage left. The floor seats were directly at my feet so I had an unobstructed view of the spectacle. I cannot recall the set list but it was mindblowing, seeing these guy’s right in front of you that you’d seen on MTV countless times, not to mention the radio (over)exposure. I do remember I had to take off the concert t-shirt as it was so hot in there, I tied it around my waist and proceeded to air guitar Steve and Phil’s licks note for note. The shirt was only 12 dollars and was printed on the back Rock Till You Drop, Tour Till We Drop . I wish I had a more colorful recollection, but a lot has faded over the years. I would see Quiet Riot (w/ Black Sabbath) and Motley Crue (w/ Ozzy) in the next few months and the shows were equally outrageous and ultimately etched in my memory forever. What I would give to relive those dates just once more… I consider myself fortunate to have witnessed some of rock’s greatest shows ever. I saw Leppard again in Denver in 1988 on the Hysteria tour. I took my little brother and it was a blast. Tesla opened that show. It was made famous by the taping of the concert which became the video release of the live in the round shows, also the single video for Pour Some Sugar… and Armageddon It wer taped at McNichol’s that night in Denver. But that show is another story… stay tuned. – said HanoiRoxx on Jun 06, 2005

my favorite Def Leppard song is foolin… when i was 13 i seen a couple banging in the lake, they had there boom box on the beach and a ran by and snagged a cassette out of there stash… it was pyromania. i wore the hell out of that tape..still one of my faves of all time. – said eric_evil on Jun 06, 2005
I like most of their stuff from their first three albums. – said Mr. Maiden on Jul 07, 2005
I got into Def Lep summer of 81 listening to a UK compilation LP that had 2 Lep songs (Satellite & Rocks Off) as well as Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and some others that escape my memory. I think the LP was titled Monsters Of Rock. After hearing that LP I bought and really liked On Through The Night and loved High N Dry. They weren’t simply another New Wave of British Heavy Metal act. My fave Lep release would have to be High N Dry since I love Let It Go, Mirror Mirror, Another Hit And Run, & Me And My Wine too! I did manage to see them on the Hysteria tour which was fantastic. These guys are legendary and have earned the right to be considered as one of hard rock’s all time best bands. 8) Just adding my 2 cents! Paine – said CrazyMikePaine on Jul 07, 2005
