It’s roughly 80 degrees out and I’ve got the windows down and Boys of Summer is blasting through my car speakers. I look to my left and there’s a burly old man staring at me. Mean muggin’ the shit out of me! I think he’s questioning my life choices. It’s totally cool though, because The Ataris is on and that’s good enough for me.
I was always the kid growing up who watched a lot of movies or played a lot of video games. Man, I played the shit out of some Crash Bandicoot. I grew up listening to a lot of “80’s, 90’s and Today” radio along with The Beatles, Bob Marley and Meatloaf. My mom H A T E S Bob Marley by the way. Only way he gets played in our house is by request, no joke. I didn’t listen to a wide variety of music growing up, but I can do a mean Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl karaoke with enough drinks in my system.
What’s the point, Sam? What are you even talking about? Well, really I just wanted to say, “hey,” and give you a little glimpse of my past and who I am. I was born and raised in Florida and have since lived in five different states; this is where I list them: AR, IL, OH, CO, MI. I currently reside in the D where I live with my boyfriend and our cat, Gus (it’s a girl). I’ve worked a shitload of customer service jobs with my last being Starbucks where I made a shit-ton of coffee for a lot of people. Now? I’m here, writing this blog for you. Only you. (Your eyes only). But really, ZRock is a pretty sick place and I’m assuming we’ll be seeing a lot of each other here. SO, I’d like to start this very first blog by giving you some of my current “on repeat” songs.
I’ve been on this weird kick of listening to songs about tour life because it really can be difficult. It’s actually kind of saddening sometimes and when you listen, really listen, to the lyrics, that’s when you get the feels. Your heart strings get pulled and you realize how lucky your ears are to be hearing such a wonderful song. Here’s my list:
The last four songs are totally unrelated to tour life but are still on repeat these days.
Short but sweet, for now. Maybe you have more songs that you can share with me so my library can continue to grow (if yes, leave a comment so I know!). For now, let’s get this friendship started. Nice to meet you.
