Ticketmaster will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test within 24-72 hours prior to event entry, Billboard reports.
The plans under development will rely on three components: the Ticketmaster digital ticket app, third party health information companies (i.e. CLEAR Health Pass or IBM’s Digital Health Pass) and testing / vaccine distribution providers (i.e. Labcorp and CVS Minute Clinic).
If approved, the plan would require fans to verify they have been vaccinated or tested negative for coronavirus 24 to 72 hours prior to the concert as governed by regional health authorities.
“We’re already seeing many third-party health care providers prepare to handle the vetting — whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval – which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified,” Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich tells Billboard. “Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and is working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s green-lit by officials and desired by clients.”
Ticketmaster is also implementing SmartEvent – a suite of technology tools that help fans safely return to events.
“We know that fans around the world are eager to return to live events and SmartEvent gives event organizers an array of solutions to help make that possible,” said Mark Yovich. “SmartEvent brings together our advanced technology platform and industry-leading venue and seating insights, putting Ticketmaster in the unique position to facilitate paths back to live.”
“While initially intended to help fans and organizers get back to live, some of these innovations will long outlast COVID-19, streamlining processes and providing endless opportunity to modernize the event experience,” continued Yovich. “We have every confidence that the industry will prevail, and that our cutting-edge technology, local expertise, global reach and fan insights will lead the way.”
