Hey Kiddies, what I am going to musically dissect in this review is the new album by the Sweedish thrash metal sensations THE HAUNTED! But this isn’t the band you have come to know the past 2 albums with Marko Aro on vocals, this is the brand new album with original vocalist / deranged free-thinker Peter Dolving. To be honest, each previous album that The Haunted always did were really good, but I always felt an incomplete vibe, like there was something missing off the albums. This time, the band have written an extremely solid piece of metal history! The Album opens with the first 2 slamdance fests No Compromise and 99 Sabatoge starts to give the album a more even pace with it’s evenflowing groove and excellent guitar solo… .Very Impressed! The first single off the new album, ]All Against All], is a very smashmouth song that showcases Frontman Peter Dolving’s somewhat warped thought process along with Basist Jonas Bjorger’s lurchy bass tone over trademark Haunted riffs! The money shot on this album, is track 7, known asBurnt To A Shell! This song, from what I get from the lyrics, is basically about wishing to die from the despair a broken heart. Very thought provoking and left me with chills down my spine. This is song could give this band the much deserved mass-exposure that has eluded them since the beginning of their career! Who Will Decide] is the best cut on this album. Smooth like wine, yet abrasive as sandpaper, this song takes no prisoners and will definitely be a favorite for the moshpit. If you can pick up the limited edition digipak of this album (artwork pictured above)… .do yourself a favor… ..please do, because the 2 bonus tracks Fire Alive and Smut King are absolutely hard as nails and give the album a more complete feel. Not to mention, the artwork is more of a creepy violence theme, instead of having a serial killer theme like the last 2 albumsThe Haunted Made Me Do It and One Kill Wonder possessed. My Shadow is the creepy closer, but gives the album a definite complete vibe and makes me want to keep this album on repeat on my CD player. Very well done for this band. Also, on another note about the limited edition digipak, it is actually limited and there are domestic versions (with a white cover and different artwork) being printed up… .without Fire Alive and Smut King. Go out and buy this album… .NOW! www.the-haunted.com www.centurymedia.com – said Joshua V. on Nov 11, 2004
