Des Moines, IA – Slipknot is set to release the highly anticipated, Rick Rubin-produced VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES) on May 25, 2004. Recorded in a reputedly-haunted mansion once owned by Houdini and now used as a recording studio by Rubin, VOL. 3 will rank as one of heavy rock’s defining albums. The album is at once a demonstration of Slipknot’s seemingly innate ability to connect with existing fans (affectionately dubbed maggots ), and also a pushing of the limits of the genre in all directions. Expect aggression, depth, ferocity, melody, and unwavering confidence from this truly unstoppable band. Fans will immediately get it , while those with pre-conceived agendas will be challenged to re-think their definition of ’slipknot music.
Many fans will get an early listen to the new recordings, while playing the Activision video game MTX: Mototrax*. The video game features a b-side from the sessions entitled ’don’t Get Close , as well as many instrumental pieces, plus Wait And Bleed from the band’s first album.
Beginning on March 30, tracks from the album will begin to infiltrate the public’s consciousness. First comes Pulse Of The Maggots , a rallying cry for the bands most loyal fans. In April comes ’duality , the album’s first single. Slipknot has chosen the directing duo of Mark Klasfeld and Tony Petrossian to shoot the ’duality video in their hometown of Des Moines, IA later this month. The track represents the new material well, flaunting both the heavy and harmonic sides of the band.
As with most great albums, a massive amount of tracks (25 plus) were recorded for VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES), with only 13 finally making the cut. Other songs expected to make the album are… Vermillion, The Blister Exists and Circle among others. Also, expect a special edtion unlike any other, with bonus audio, video, band access and giveaways all happening at Slipknot1.com.
To date Slipknot has released two full-length albums and two videos/DVDs, all of which are certified platinum. The band is equally confident about VOL. 3’s ability to please their dedicated fanbase.
Fans will get their first taste of the band’s new look and new music when Slipknot headlines the upcoming Jagermeister Music Tour to start on 3/30 in Orlando, FL. The band will then go to Europe for a run with Metallica and return to the states as the headliners of Ozzfest’s second stage.

I have never seen Slipknot live yet. Although, I came close the last time they came as my band at the time was flyering cars outside the venue. hehe. Anyway, I am going to see them when they come to town this time as they will have Fear Factory with them. Love those guys. And Chaimara looks to be good as well. I liked the song they had on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack… . – said Thomas Vrazel on Mar 03, 2004

’des Moines Family Asks SLIPKNOT To Fix Their Devastated Home MTV.com reports: When a family in West Des Moines, Iowa, rented their house to SLIPKNOT last week to use for the ’duality video shoot, they knew there might be some damage, and since they were planning to gut the house anyway to renovate it, they were OK with that. But they had no idea how extensive the devastation would be. Here’s a partial list of items the family are asking the band to replace or fix: Broken windows throughout the house, new painted kitchen destroyed, damage to the driveway, torn-up lawn, front door destroyed, rugs sustained water damage, whole house needs repainting, gutters were broken, back door and window frames broken, equipment missing, basketball backboard trashed, damage from cigarette butts, ceiling destroyed where chandelier fell, picnic tables broken. – said PAUZED on Mar 03, 2004

The grotesque, leathery, stitched-up and zippered headwear, which is still being developed, will be available at future SLIPKNOT shows. – said PAUZED on Apr 04, 2004
SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor recently spoke to The Flint Journal about the group’s forthcoming CD, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) , due on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The album is a really good amalgam of all the things that were great on the first two albums and all these different directions that we always wanted to go, he said. It’s a very eclectic yet reined-in album. It’s almost a dichotomy at times where it’s brutal yet it’s melodic, Corey continued. It’s heavy and thrash, but it’s rock and it’s all these great, beautiful flavors that nobody tries to do anymore. So many bands just basically write one song and create a whole album around it. We have always been all about creating an album as a whole and then going back and looking at possible singles. That’s one of the reasons why our albums still hold out to this day. We take the time to make sure something is, in our eyes, immortal instead of slick and 15 minutes. I think [STONE SOUR] helped us break down a lot of the stereotypes around this band. Just from myself, a lot of people just thought I was a screamer and that was it and just totally overlooking the singing that I was actually doing on both of those albums. On STONE SOUR, I got to stretch out a little bit and show the different styles of what I could do. On this album, I’ve been able to incorporate that but at the same time, help SLIPKNOT evolve to where it needs to go. It’s not all screaming but at the same time, it’s not all singing. It’s not all melodic. There’s some really cool, dark passages that aren’t either. I can’t even describe it. Joey (Jordison, drums) calls it my gothic talk voice. I don’t know what it means, but it’s really cool. You ll have to hear it to believe it. The cool thing about this album is it’s got all the crazy stuff, but it’s very well structured, Taylor said. At first, you listen to it and it appears calm. Then you start to listen to it a little bit more and you can feel the chaos underneath. It gives (the music) a really good edge. – said PAUZED on Apr 04, 2004
