As Twisted Sister embarks on a farewell run, frontman Dee Snider plans on continuing his musical career under his own name by releasing a solo album entitled ‘We Are the Ones’ due out on October 28th. This Red River Records release will be the third of his solo career and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
Snider recently revealed details about the album, which is a departure from his fabled glam rock days and shift into a reincarnated modern rock artist.
“We created an album that is … think part Foo Fighters, part Imagine Dragons, part Thirty Seconds To Mars, forget anything from the past. Most of my heavy metal fans are gonna hate it; I’ve abandoned my past to move forward,” Snider said when speaking to Billboard.
The album’s first single “Rule the World” is a studio anthem that can be reminiscent the full sonic landscape of Queen’s iconic “We Are the Champions.” He has cited that this song is meant to be uplifting with everyone joining together in love and peace. Even in the Twisted Sister heyday, Snider has notoriously called for metal fans to join in unity and rid themselves of divisions that are often strewn throughout the genre.
The album also includes a newly recorded acoustic version of “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” The song has been tapped as the official anthem for the Recording Academy’s advocacy efforts on behalf of recording artists.
The release has been ramped with a PledgeMusic campaign where backers can get an assortment of pre-order bundle items including signed merch and lyric sheets, limited edition posters, signed drum heads, mics, pedals, and even a file of a custom Happy Birthday message.
Twisted Sister will be closing out their ‘Forty and Fuck It’ tour during a final tri-state area show at the Rock Carnival in New Jersey held between September 30th and October 2nd. Twisted Sister will perform on Saturday, October 1st. Be on the lookout for Snider announcing fall solo dates.
