Music industry pundits were a bit skeptical when Guns N’ Roses announced they were reuniting for a full-blown tour this past year. Between Axl’s habitual tardiness and the beef between him and Slash, it seemed that this tour could take a turn for the worse before it even happened.
Much to the surprise of many, not only did the “Not in this Lifetime” tour sell over two million tickets, but the band recently announced that it would add 30 dates in both Europe and North American in 2017.
The tour kicks off in Dublin at the remarkable Slane Castle and the European leg concludes in Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv. After a measly two weeks of rest, #GnFnR picks the tour back up for the North American leg starting in The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis and bouncing around everywhere from Denver to Minneapolis to British Columbia and landing in St. Antonio for their final date at the Alamodome. This is the group’s first play in St. Louis since the infamous “Riverport Riot” incident in 1991 where Axl Rose attacked a photographer in the audience, walked off stage, and a riot ensured injuring dozens of fans. Guns N’ Roses was fined $50,000 and banned from playing in the city.
As many reported over the most recent tour, it seems like Axl and company have turned new leaves and were not only punctual and good-spirited, but their music game was top-notch as they performed dozens of their greatest hits and garnered a plethora of positive reviews.
