I went to the Yngwie / Lynch concert last night. Mostly to see my guitar hero, Mr. Scary himself, George Lynch. They had 2 opening bands… the first I didn’t see, and the second was Hat Trick Of Misery, a band I been hearing alot about on another board. They really did rock! Their sound was a Pyn Siren/Skid Row Slave To Your Master era meets heavy metal. Their website is: www.hattrickofmisery.com if you want to check them out some samples and band info. Then my god came on… George Mr. Freakin Scary Lynch!!! The set list performed was: Unchain The Night – (Dokken) Flesh And Blood – (Solo Record) Breath And A Scream – (Lynch/Pilson) When Heaven Comes Down – (Dokken) Wicked Sensation – (Lynch Mob) [this was a hot version] Kiss Of Death – (Dokken) [this version was better then the Dokken & the new Lynch Mob versions put together… !!!] Mr. Scary – (Dokken) [HOLY CRAP!!!] Tooth And Nail – (Dokken) George started the night off in a nice long sleeve collared shirt, and played the his Tiger Burst guitar to begin with. Shredding away as usual. Then after one of my favorite songs, When Heaven Comes Down, George got back on stage without his shirt (for the ladies of course), and brought out BONES to the stage! I love this guitar with the skull and bones on it! He had to stand still about 3 times though because his strap fell off, and his tech had to come up and reattach it, but even with someone all over his guitar as he is playing did not affect him. Jeff Martin, singer for the band Racer-X played the drums for George’s band and was awesome doing so! And not only that, Jeff provided an incredible background vocals on these songs that gave them a bit more of a heavy depth! Kelly Keeling handed vocals and he did terrific on the classic Dokken & Lynch Mob songs, and dare I say, he preformed better then the previous Lynch Mob songs. I was happy to hear when they announced the new CD Furious George that is coming out next month will feature Kelly on vocals! Then I stood in line and got the chance to MEET my god, George Lynch. He signed a picture for me and my brother, who did not go to the show with me. George and I had a breif encounter as I was just in amazement meeting him! Yngwie came on while Lynch was still doing autographs. I went to watch one song by Yngwie and then left. Sorry Malmsteen fans. But I can’t get into him too much. Maybe if he didn’t have a different singer every few years it would be better for me. No doubt he is a great guitarist, but my night was to see George Lynch and I went away extremely happy!
