Appropriate title indeed from a band who has had to endure hardship and sacrifice the past 2 years… .this band was on tour 2 years ago with 36 Crazyfists, when the tour got cut short when an 18 wheeler wrecked into the back of their van… … .that wreck almost cost the band their lives… .thank the Heavy Metal gods that they had a trailer with their gear in the back, or they would have been killed for sure! The band escaped with some injuries, but managed to survive… .and even decided to make the album artwork out of their van wreck and the album pictures of themselves rocking out to their broken equipment. Layer on top of that an appropriate album title What Doesn’t Kill You… and even before you put the album in your CD player, you already get the vibe this is going to be a very potent album, and Candiria do not let their adoring public down! Now as for the music, this is acutally a more commericial affiar than their last two albums 300 Percent Density and The Coma Imprint but the creative fire and heaviness is definitely still there there in extreme potency. The album tends to have a strange trend of having one really heavy song, starting off with ’dead Bury The Dead and alternates to a more radio friendly song, and then back to a heavy song. Such radio gems on this album are The Nameless King and ’down give the album a more 3-dimensional feel, and such hardcore favorites as 1000 Points and the creepy hip-hop jazz jam 9mm Solution give the album it’s gritty musical edge that Candiria is known to deliver. The album even closes on a jazz/rock improv session track called The Rutherford Experiment! This is defintely and album to pick up for something new and exciting to add to your record collection! ________________________________________________________________________________ www.candiria.com – said Joshua V. on Sep 09, 2004
