Behemoth Demigod Century Media Out now in Europe / US Release Date January 25th, 2005 Holy hell, this album is fast, unrelenting, and downright demonic! Polish Black Metal kings Behemoth deliver yet another album, filled with powerful music and even more powerful artwork, designed to be a volatile Molotov cocktail of black metal fury! First picking up the album (I got the limited Digipak about a month and a half early), you will notice the somewhat occult like cover… .don’t let it fool you. As soon as you open case and pull the disc, there are inscriptions like Love is the Law and ’do What Thou Will, on what appears to be the top of the staff that the elder demigod is holding on the cover! Skimming through the book, there are killer pictures of the band and an art layout second to none… .along with quotes from Aleister Crowley, Frederick Nietchze, and personal liner notes from Behemoth mastermind Negral! Now lets actually talk about what make Behemoth such a killer band, the music! Just because this band is getting more mainstream attention, doesn’t mean they are weakening their sound a notch, as Demigod is actually there fastest and heaviest album to date!
This album is good overall, but does not really start cooking until Track 3 know as Conquer All. This Song is fast and heavy, but with a very epic like sound to the guitars, and the CD also comes with a CD-Rom portion with the music video for the song! The Nephilim Rising shows more intensity and aggression, but the end of the song is marked by some amazing acoustic guitar work at the end of the song! Before The Aeons Come is the best track on the album, which starts out slow, but then barrels the listener down with speed and aggression. Nile guitarist Karl Sanders guest on track 8, known as Xul, and throws in a lead guitar solo that fits the music perfectly! The closing track, The Reign Ov Shemsu-Hor, is an epic like Egyptian themed song, that clocks in at around 8 1/2 minutes and without one single boring second! This album is definitely going to be one of the top anticipated releases of the year 2005!
